Il Buon Seme, an agribusiness, was founded in 1922 by the Burdese family. The story begins with Vincenzo Burdese, who moved from Roreto di Cherasco to the hills of San Damiano d’Asti with the intention, unusual for that area at the time, of raising cattle.
Over the years, the estate diversified its agricultural activities, and today it extends over more than 40 hectares; currently, in addition to farming cattle, it also cultivates grains and produce.
Grain accounts for the lion’s share of production, including common wheat, durum wheat from the Consorzio Sardo Grano Cappelli, spelt, sorghum and corn. The various flours are ground at the mill of San Martino Alfieri.
The company also makes cookies, using only its own flour, eggs and butter, and hazelnuts from local growers, as well as fruit jams and marmalades with only a little added sugar and lemon juice.
